And they are very affordable. The pricing for carts and islands starts at a couple of hundred dollars. Of course, the price goes up from there and can get a high as $1,000 or more. It really just depends on what you choose. For example: A high-end kitchen cart may have intricate hand carved woodwork, plenty of work and storage space, a wine rack and a granite work surface. Whereas a lower-end kitchen cart may consist of simple elegant lines, a cabinet or two, and a wooden work surface.
Contrary to popular belief, the addition of a center island to your kitchen does not have to be permanent or a huge investment. By using portable carts or kitchen islands, you can achieve the sophisticated look that is associated with a center island without having to do a major remodel or take out a loan.
In addition, when you are shopping for your personal foldable shopping carts you can choose from a number of other special options. There are special attachments for carrying babies, puppies, and so many other types of things like car keys, purses, and drinks. Therefore, there is a way to turn any cart into your dream cart once you start to look at these special, add on pieces.
Whether your greatest need is for cabinet-type storage, or drawer space, you’ll be able to find a kitchen cart island that suits your needs. There are styles available with shelves on the ends for cookbooks, or spice racks to keep your cooking spices handy. You can get one with a butcher block top, granite, marble or laminate. If you need to be able to move your cart around, look for easy rolling wheels or casters. If your cart will stay in one place permanently, you can take the casters off for better stability.
Any surface that is used for food preparation needs to be able to be sanitized and cleaned properly. A kitchen cart made from pressed wood that will delaminate when it gets wet won’t be a good candidate for working kitchen islands and carts. If you will be preparing food directly on the cart top, opt for easy care laminate, or a stone such as granite or marble. Even a properly made butcher block top can be cleaned and sanitized without it falling apart.
All carts islands that provide a seating area will need stools upon which to sit. These are usually made to complement the island/cart but can also be made of material, metal or wood, to complement with details that deserve a second glance. The stools can be stackable to save space when not in use or they can have a seat of fabric or leather to provide hours to sit and relax in comfort. They can have backs or be backless and can even swivel up to 360 degrees! Glides on the leg bottoms will help protect the floor.
