Bright colors are used in a Mexican kitchen. Use warm colors like red, orange and yellow on the walls. For the countertop, different colored painted tiles look great. You can go with mosaic tiles also. Terracotta floor tiles add a warm and traditional Mexican kitchen look, and are easy to care for. Iron hardware on painted wooden furniture will add a nice rustic look. You can add some wrought iron chairs. Copper sink, with copper stove hoods will lighten the room and add to the ambiance. Hang some baskets and place them on table with some decorative food items, to complete the look.
There are certain colors that you just can’t go wrong with. One of these kitchen colors is beige. Beige is something that goes well with every color of kitchen cabinets. So, if you have black, dark red, or dark yellow cabinets or any other dark shade and want to go with a safe color then go with beige. Beige is a neutral color which is not eye-catching and hence suitable for all cabinet colors. Another shade which comes close is gray. Gray is also a neutral shade, that goes with many dark cabinets. Make sure you choose a medium to light shade of beige or gray.
The number and size of appliances have increased manifold since 1950. Thus, the classic triangle design may not work for the modern kitchens of today, that flaunt sophisticated appliances. Hence, the idea of zone centered design came into practice. The concept of this layout design is based on division of kitchen into several zones, based on the activity. Meaning, the appliances are arranged in the order of their utility. Any modern kitchen can be primarily divided into main zones such as cooking, cleaning, baking, eating, storing, etc. This way, you can find whatever you need for a single activity at one place only. Not only this will reduce the time taken for fetching things and making trips within the kitchen, it will also keep your kitchen more organized and clutter free.
While you start working on the colors, you need to take into consideration a lot of elements. Starting with the kitchen cabinets, you also need to think about the shelves, island, and dining table. Cabinets occupy a major area of the room, hence matching colors with these is a must for right decor. You can have the cabinets painted in dual colors, both or one of these matching with the shades used for the walls. The dining tables and chairs (if you already have this set) also need to go well with the walls. Next, the tiles must be in shades that match with the paint for kitchens.
One of the best way to update the look of a plain and boring kitchen is to change the wall colors. Pick a paint color that is lively and fresh instead of a muted or pastel color. A bit of color in the kitchen can give the kitchen a completely new look. Choose paint colors like tangerine, sunny yellow and citrus greens to give the kitchen a warm look. Painting a kitchen is one of the most cost-effective way of renovating a kitchen. Alternatively, you can even install a wallpaper on one or two walls of the kitchen. A modern wallpaper pattern can enhance the kitchen decor and make it look stylish and contemporary. And the best thing about using wallpaper is that there are many inexpensive and discount wallpapers available in home improvement stores.
One of the best ideas for inexpensive kitchen remodeling is to update your existing kitchen cabinets by using paint, molding and new hardware instead of installing new ones. The cost of installing brand new kitchen cabinets is exorbitant, and when you are on a budget it is best to make the best of what you have got. Painting the kitchen cabinets in a color that complements the wall color of the kitchen is a great idea to jazz them up. You can even consider staining or pickling the wooden kitchen cabinets for a fresh look. Install new hardware like kitchen cabinet pulls and knobs. These types of installation do not cost much and you can do it yourself over the weekend.
