If it is a rustic kitchen decor with an all wooden cabinetry in natural wooden hues, then you better opt for hand carved wooden corbels that are made of wood. The best thing would be to select the same material as the rest of the cabinetry and paint it the same color as well. You can opt for various types of wood like alder, maple, birch, oak, cherry, teak, etc. The rest of the popular materials of corbels like marble and polyurethane are mainly popular for kitchen decorating.
Either you’re doing up the kitchen from scratch, or you are in the process of overhauling the interiors of your existing kitchen. A countertop plays a vital role in both the looks and utility aspect in the kitchen. So which one do you go for? Granite or quartz? The following information might just clear your mind and make your decision simpler.
Right from their names, both stones share a lot of similarities; however, there is a fundamental difference in their compositions. The following is a brief look at how these stones differ from each other.
While manufacturing, quartz crystals are ground and combined with resins, binders, and coloring pigments. Quartz comprises almost 93% of this mixture. This combination is poured into molds of desired shape and size, and allowed to harden. This is a more affordable way of using quartz in comparison to using a natural slab.
While the durable and long-lasting nature of granite is advantageous, it can at the same time be disadvantageous. If you get bored of the color or pattern of the granite over the years, you cannot replace the granite easily. Once installed, granite is difficult to remove and on removal, will damage the kitchen cabinets; thus, replacing them would mean remodeling the kitchen.
Installing a granite slab is a very laborious and tedious task, due to which, the installation can cost almost three times the amount spent on the slab. Granite also requires an additional supporting structure during the installation as it is very heavy. However, once a granite countertop is installed, it becomes a permanent structure. Removing it later can even harm the adjoining structures. Their biggest advantage is that they sport a luminous surface and give a very rich look to the kitchen furniture.
