When you choose to have a multifunctional island, adding shelves and drawers is also essential to place in various dining accessories and kitchen tools. A well-planned and smartly-designed island is sure to make your kitchen much more than a simple cooking space. All the best!
Add a wine rack on one side of an island in an open kitchen, and a side that shows in the living or dining room. As a design element on its own, you don‘t need to do much to make it stand out. Further, you can include open shelving and have the cabinets below the island covered with glass doors to give it a unique look.
Once you finalize the size of the island after checking out the area available, you can further decide on the placement. The usual idea is to place it at the center, without touching the walls, but you can choose from other options. You can place it in between the kitchen and the living room. This style is very popular these days, where the islands are used as a partition between the living room and the kitchen in place of a wall. Another idea is to place it in between the kitchen and the dining area.
