There‘s no end to the creativity, that is used by the manufactures and this kind of island, as the name implies, has a stove installed within it. It also has a chimney or an exhaust attached overhead. These islands, usually have a stone top and have a very less wood in them, as constant heat, has a tendency to spoil the wood.
Today kitchen islands have become a popular element of kitchen furniture. While the simple and basic islands are still preferred by many, you will get to see pieces offering much more than that extra countertop in your cooking space. A countertop is definitely an important part of the cooking area. Kitchen islands with a breakfast bar and stools are amongst the latest designs which convert the simple countertop into a multifunctional surface. Browse through the images and you are sure to love the designs. These multifunctional islands can be further designed according to your taste and can be ordered to rightly fit in your kitchen and taste of style. So here are some design ideas on the same which you can consider opting for.
How many times do you crave for having hot, freshly prepared food and also serve it to your family? Several times, I guess. However, the thought of running back and forth to the kitchen to fetch food may tire you. Adding a breakfast bar to your kitchen will not only serve the purpose, but also add that zing to it. Also, your family and friends can sit comfortably and enjoy a delicious meal.
The island can also double up as a dining table if it is wide and long enough. This eliminates the need for a separate dining table, and allows you to integrate a living space without much effort.
If you are a minimalist and don‘t like bulky furniture, just a long rectangular table with two chairs around it can do the trick. You could also use a table on wheels to make your island counter portable, or mount old storage cabinets on casters and use them as a mobile island counter, which you can keep aside when you want to give your kitchen a larger appeal. This is a particularly great idea for small spaces.
When other elements are finalized, it‘s time to look at the material to be used. This will mainly depend on your budget. If the budget is not a problem, you can go for the best material for making one. There are also those available at a lesser cost. Perfect laminate or wood finish, decorative drawers and cabinet handles, and an elegant counter top will give a posh look to the island. Make sure that the counter top is exactly the same as your existing kitchen counter top. Also the laminate used needs to match the existing cabinets and furniture in case of remodeling. For outdoors consider the type of outdoor furniture placed around. The counter top will essentially be a few inches larger than the base. Make sure the borders and corners are well finished.
