Quartz and quartzite are widely used to make kitchen countertops. They are both strong and durable and also offer a premium look and feel. But which of them would be ideal for your kitchen? we will tell you more about each one of them.
Harsh cleaning agents such as bleach, kitchen degreasers and glass cleaners can strip the granite surface off the sealer, and can permanently stain the surface. This is because these common household cleaning agents contain acids, alkalies and other chemicals, which can harm the granite. One must be careful to only use mild soap and water to clean it. Even frequent use of soap can make the granite surface dull.
Most quartz countertops are usually manufactured from a quartz composite. While naturally occurring slabs of quartz can be used after polishing, they are quite expensive, and therefore, rarely used for making kitchen countertops.
When you have a contemporary kitchen decoration with white or beige cabinetry and black granite countertops, the best thing would be to opt for iron corbels. Metal corbels look perfect when they are paired with a light colored background.
Granite is a durable and easy-to-maintain countertop material. It does have its disadvantages, however, mostly all products in the market have some or the other drawback. While deciding on which countertop material to buy, one must weigh the pros and cons. Despite these cons, granite countertops are elegant, unique and enhance the beauty of one’s kitchen.
There are a few things that you need to consider while selecting corbels for countertops. The first being their application. You need to opt for strong corbels with an approximate depth of one-half and three-quarters of the countertop for excellent support. Since they provide enough support, you also need to decide upon the number and placement of the corbels. For good overall support, keep a 3ft distance between two corbels for a standard granite countertop.
